Choosing the first toy for a baby is a big responsibility. Most parents look for something soft, but many plush toys are too bulky. They have hard eyes or stuffing that can come out. This is a real safety worry for new parents.
Traditional amigurumi are cute, but they are often too heavy for a newborn to hold. If a toy is too big, it just stays on the shelf. It doesn't become that "best friend" a child needs for comfort and sleep.
My solution is the "snuggler" or "lovey" style. These are flat, hollow toys with no stuffing in the body. They are lightweight and very flexible. A baby can easily grab the ears or paws. I use only high-quality, soft yarn so it feels like a cloud against the skin.
