Can you wash handmade crochet toys? Care tips for moms

One of the most common questions moms ask is: "Can I wash this handmade toy?". The answer is a definite YES.

Your snuggler will go through a lot—from car rides to messy snacks. I use high-quality plush yarn like Himalaya Dolphin Baby and YarnArt Dolce because they are durable and safe. Since my snugglers are hollow and flat, they are much easier to clean and dry than traditional stuffed animals.

 

How to care for your toy:

1. Hand Wash: Use lukewarm water and a drop of baby detergent. Do not wring it to avoid stretching the stitches.

2. Machine Wash: Use a mesh laundry bag on a "Delicate" cycle (30°C/86°F).

3. Drying: Never use a dryer or a heater—heat makes the plush stiff. Lay it flat on a towel instead.

4. Softness: Once dry, shake the toy or rub the fur with your hand to regain its fluffiness.
